Collecting Water with an Integrated Sampler
1.
Remove the stopper at each end and rinse the sampler with lake water 3-4 times on
one side of the boat.
2.
On the opposite side of the boat, SLOWLY submerse the sampler vertically into the water
until the top of it is approximately 6 inches from water's surface.
3.
Insert the rubber stopper on the top end of the sampler. If using a vacuum stopper,
tighten the screw.
4.
Raise the sampler slowly out of the water and replace the bottom stopper before
pulling the sampler out of the water to prevent loss of the water sample.
5.
Invert the tube to mix the 2-meter water column sample. Carefully let out the bottom
stopper and pour the whole sample into a sample bottle. If a representative sample
is not transferred to the bottle, please discard and resample.
6. At the end of the day, rinse
the integrated sampler with tap water and allow it to air dry before putting the
stoppers back in.
